The season starts to ramp up a bit…

Concerts and Opera

• September 1st at Lula Lounge, Louisa Lyne & di Yiddishe Kapelye, present Leonard Cohen in Yiddish as part of the Ashkenaz Festival.
• September 18th is the opening of Verdi’s La Traviata at the Four Seasons Centre. There are ten performances split between two casts with the last on October 17th.
• September 23rd sees the Ensemble Studio open the Free Concert Series in the RBA. Note these shows are still free but are now ticketed.
• September 30th is National Truth and Reconciliation Day and the COC has a lunchtime lecture/recital in the RBA by mezzo Camryn Dewar on The Evolution of Female Indigenous Representation in Canadian Opera from 1879 to Present.

Theatre etc.

• September 12th at the Theatre Centre Icarus Theatre presents the Canadian Premiere of Walden by Amy Berryman. Previews are on the 10th and 11th and it runs to the 26th.
• September 17th is open ing night for Soulpepper’s production of Wedekind’s Spring Awakening. Previews start on September 10th and the run extends to the 30th.
• House and Body’s version of Measure for Measure opens at Crow’s Theatre on the 19th. Previews start on the 14th and it runs until October 4th. It’s the production that was seen in March 2025.
• September 24th is opening night for Wine in the Wilderness at CanStage Berkeley Street. Previews begin on the 19th and it runs until October 4th.
• Also on the 24th Nightwood Theatre’s production of Erin Shields’ Invite to a Flame opens at the Jackman Performance Centre. Previews start on the 22nd and t runs until October 4th.
• The 24th to the 27th sees multiple shows in Youngplace at Sweet Action Theatre and Small World Music Centre as part of the What The Festival. Multiple clown, puppet and drag acts.
• September 29th is the opening for Sasha Ivanochko’s Heaven; a music-less dance work for three naked dancers. It’s at the theatre centre and runs until October 3rd.
