Here’s what I’m looking forward to in a busy November.
- The reprise of Tapestry’s Rocking Horse Winner at Crow’s Theatre. That’s November 1st to 12th.
- The Glenn Gould School’s fall opera offering. It’s a presentation of five of Tapestry’s short operas from the 2000s. November 3rd and 4th in Mazzoleni Hall.
- Voicebox are doing Verdi’s Un giorno di regno at the St. Lawrence Centre on the 5th.
- On the 7th Samuel Chan, formerly of this parish, has a noon recital in the RBA.
- The 10th and 11th sees Soundstreams in the new TD Music Hall in the Massey Hall complex present The Bright Divide; music by Moron Feldman and Cecilia Livingston inspired by the work of Mark Rothko.
- November 7th to 26th at Crow’s Theatre there’s Natal’ya Vorozhbit’s Bad Roads; a play set in Ukraine during the 2014 Russian invasion.
- November 14th to 26th Canadian Stage are presenting Ben Power’s The Lehman Trilogy at the Bluma AppelTheatre.
- November 15th is a busy day with opening nights for Sarah Ruhl’s Letters From Max, a ritual opening at the Theatre Centre (runs November 10th to December 3rd including previews) and Jani Lauzon’s Prophecy Fog at Coalmine Theatre.(runs November 12th to December 10th including previews). if you haven’t seen one of Jani’s one woman shows you should!
- There are two one man shows by Daniel McIvor at Factory Theatre. Monster features Karl Ang and runs November 16th to December 10th while Here Lies Henry features Damien Atkins and runs November 23rd to December 17th.
- This year’s West End Micro Music Festival takes place at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer on Bloor Street on the 17/18th and 24/25th with two concerts entitled Chronosynthesis and Alchemical Processes; chamber music like you have never seen before.
- On the 22nd the Schulich Early Music Ensemble have a noon hour concert in the RBA.
- From the 23rd to 26th in the Macmillan Theatre UoT Opera are presenting Nino Rota’s Il cappello di paglia di Firenze; a farce about a straw hat eaten by a horse.
- And finally, on the 27th there’s a chance to see the COC Ensemble Studio in concert at noon in the RBA.
