Concerts live and virtual

BoxConcerts-1-Rachel-Forbes-scaledTapestry have another in their outdoor “box concerts” series coming up Friday, August 7th at 2pm at Ehatare Retirement and Nursing Home, 40 Old Kingston Rd, Scarborough.  It features tenor Asitha Tennekoon and if you are in the neighbourhood you should be able to find them.  The series is aimed at community groups, retirement homes etc and if you are so inclined you can arrange for them to come visit.  Details are on the Tapestry website.

There’s another virtual initiative; Pixel Opera Media, who are producing virtual “socially distanced” opera scenes using Canadian artists paid at union rates and to high quality.  At this point there are four fee offerings featuring the likes of Russell Braun, Charles Sy, Peter McGillivray, Wallis Giunta, Megan Latham and many more.  You can find out more at pixelopera.ca or just check out the videos on their Youtube channel.

Quick reminder that there’s an Elora Festival gig tonight featuring the Elora Festival singers, Lance Wiliford and Lucas Harris doing songs for tenor and lute and a (close to) rerun of last June’s Confluence At the River concert.  It’s ticketed.  Check https://elorafestival.ca/ for details.  That’s at 6.30pm.  At 8pm AtG’s Joel Ivany is interviewing the amazing Peter Sellars on the usual AtG media.  That should be around for a while so you can certainly catch both.
