The line up for next season’s Songmasters series in Mazzoleni Hall has been announced.
November 22nd 2020 sees baritone Elliot Madore and pianist Rachel Andrist in a program called Troubled Times with music by Adams, Britten, Higdon and Musto. It really is about time Mississauga boy Elliot was heard in Toronto. he must have sung just about everywhere else by now!
February 7th 2021 has soprano Jacqueline Woodley back in Toronto with mezzo soprano Krisztina Szabo and Rachel Andrist performing In The Words of Women which will include the Taverner Songs of Anna Akhmatova with cellist David Hetherington.
March 21st 2021 is the rescheduled To the Distant Beloved with Alexandra Smither, Russel Braun and Carolyn Maule. It will feature works by Beethoven, a new co-commissioned song cycle by Afarin Mansouri (with CASP) and lieder and songs by Schubert, Wolf and Ricky Ian Gordon, among others.
These are Sunday afternoon concerts and this coming season will start at 1pm.
Once again, Songmasters is revealed as Toronto’s essential art song destination.
