Coming up in February

Here’s a few things to look forward to next month.  Weirdly everything I know about so far is in the first half of the month so I’ll maybe do a supplemental for the back half in a couple of weeks time.

  • You Always opens at Canadian Stage on February 4th.  Previews start January 31st and it runs to February 21st.
  • February 4th is also opening night for Rhubarb!; Buddies in Bad Times festival of experimental new work.  Between the 4th and the 7th they are presenting thirteen original Canadian works, and one international touring special guest.
  • The COC’s The Barber of Seville is but one of many shows opening on February 5th.  It runs until February 21st.  There’s also an Ensemble Studio cast performance on February 20th but that may be for schools etc only.
  • Also that night Coal Mine theatre opens Jonathan Spector’s Eureka Day.  Previews start on February 1st and the run continues to February 22nd.
  • That same night Soulpepper opens Jen Silverman’s WITCH.  Previews from January 29th and running to March 1st.
  • And also on the 5th, running to the 8th, Native Earth Performing Arts are presenting a
    Niimi’iwe Dance Double Bill at the Aki Studio.
  • On the 9th there’s an early evening (6pm) concert at Tapestry; Slaying My Demon Lover (free but registration requirred).
  • Later that evening there’s a Soundstreams Encounters series concert; Arvo Pårt at 90 at Hugh’s Room.
  • On February 10th Soulpepper are opening Copperbelt.  Previews start February 7th and the run continues to march 1st.
  • February 11th Tennessee William’s Summer and Smoke opens at Crow’s Theatre.  Previews begin on February 3rd and it runs to February 28th.
  • February 14th Opera revue have two Risqué at the Rivoli shows; filthy at 7pm and filthier at 10.30pm.
