RCM 2022/3 sneak peak

koerner-stage-emptyThe Royal Conservatory of Music did a partial reveal of their classical and jazz programming for Koerner Hall in the 2022/3 season.  It’s a pretty typical mx; heavy on piano, strings and chamber music, but there are a few interesting classical vocal concerts.  Here are the highlights:

October 29th 2022 8pm – Philippe Jaroussky with Ensemble Artaserse in a Handel and Vivaldi programme.  I like Jaroussky but I wouldn’t describe him as “the world’s reigning countertenor” though.

February 5th 2023 3-m – Rod Williams with the Bach Collegium Japan with Bach and Telemann.  Apparently the line up will include Bach’s COVID cantata “Ich habe genug”.

February 22nd 2023 8pm – Emily D’Angelo with works by Hildegard von Bingen, Missy Mazzoli, Sarah Kirkland Snider and Hildur Gu∂nadóttir.  Yep, it’s enargeia CD tour.  For more details see  p59 of the Winter 2021 edition of Opera Canada.  TL:DR version; it’s a bold and excellent album.

Also dates for the GGS Spring Opera; March 15th and 17th 2023 at 7.30 pm.  No info on what is to be performed.
