Out of town, up in bear country, Highlands Opera Studio has shows this month.  Puccini’s Suor Angelica is paired with two short contemporary opera’s; Maria Atallah’s The Chair and Kendra Harder’s Book of Faces.  That’s this coming Thursday.  Then on the 22nd, 24th, 25th and 26th they are doing Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos with two different casts.  Full casting and box office information is here.

In Toronto, Against the Grain have a show with their artists of their summer intensive programme.  It’s called This is Propheticand features scenes from contemporary operas. It’s at the MacMillan Theatre at 7.30pm on the 21st and 22nd.  More details here.  Also it seems one can’t keep AtG people out of the pub for long.  They are starting Opera Pubearly this year.  There’s one this Thursday before the regular first Thursday slot resumes in October.  It’s at the Amsterdam Bicycle Club starting around 9pm.
