Over the holidays

raccoon-on-snowAs things will soon slow down for the holidays I am going to do one listings post from now through to the New Year.  There are of course still the TSO and Tafelmusik Messiahs.  There are also holiday concerts at Roy Thomson Hall.  New Year’s Eve sees an opera pops concert conducted by Marco Guidarini while on New Year’s Day there’s a Vienna themed extravaganza with Matthias Fletzberger conducting.

December 27th sees the opening of Toronto Operetta Theatre’s Pirates of Penzance.  Derek Bate conducts a Guillermo Silva-Marin production.  The cast includes Vania Chan, Elizabeth Beeler, Colin Ainsworth and Curtis Sullivan.  There are six performances between the opening and January 8th.  It’s at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts.

And, of course, for those so inclined there are umpteen performances of The Nutcracker at the National Ballet.
