Coming up week of October 26th

NextWaveKelseylg812The first part of the week isn’t too crazy.  Quinn Kelsey, currently singing Germont at the COC, has a noon recital in the RBA on Tuesday.  Rachel Andrist will be at the piano and the program includes Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel and Finzi’s Let Us Garlands Bring.  Enticing I think.

Wednesday sees a premiere and fundraiser for Syrian refugees; David Warrack’s Abraham at Metropolitan United Church.  Then on Thursday there’s Toronto Darknet Market, a fundraiser with an edge, this time for an upcoming production of Charpentier’s Medée.  Both causes worth supporting.

Sunday afternoon is crazy.  At the Royal Conservatory you can see Monica Whicher and Rachel Andrist in recital in a program called Songs of Remembrance.  There’s also an Off Centre concert at Trinity St. Paul’s; The Geometry of Love with Peter McGillivray and Joni Henson.  Finally, Toronto Operetta Theatre have a concert performance of HMS Pinafore at The St. Lawrence Centre.  Greg Finney as Sir Joseph Porter KCB should be worth the price of admission but the rest of the cast isn’t too shabby either.  I’ll be at the Conservatory.

Operawise, Pyramus and Thisbe and La Traviata continue at the COC and Opera Atelier’s Armide runs at the Elgin.
