Pretty much agree with everything (my review is on my Substack but most of it behind paywall, alas). A.P. was terrible to begin with. The tension was visible, I was worried. She did warm up, but still I don’t think she should be singing these roles. She sang a Lady M at Liceu this year… I guess everyone is desperate for good Verdians that they’re liberally borrowing from bel canto pool, hoping it’ll all turn out ok.
