13 Plays About ADHD… All At The Same Time by Alec Toller (mostly) is a show that is currently running at the tiny Assembly Theatre in the heart of Little Tibet so if you get bored there are momos a’plenty to be had. Unsurprisingly the show is about ADHD. Hosts Sharjil Rasool and Danny Pagett (who predictably arrives late) attempt to take us through a seminar about ADHD, how to diagnose yourself how to recover from it (if you have it).

Unfortunately their thirteen step process is repeatedly interrupted by comedy veterans Jon Blair, Jillian Welsh and Chloé Sullivan (as themselves) who have very different ideas about what the show should be about. A pirate ship avoiding anthropomorphic icebergs and a monologue about the Panzer III are he least of it.

There’s audience participation too in which your scribe demonstrated that he doesn’t have ADHD because he arrived before anyone else. But the main audience involvement comes in Step 5 “The Shame Pit” where audience members share memories of embarrassing failure which are then “purged”. On Saturday the best bit concerned two stoned students at massage school. Apparently someone got rubbed up the wrong way.

We only get as far as Step 6 or 7 before a demonic sock puppet takes over the action and even more chaos ensues until the puppet is vanquished and we can all enjoy the sing along ending. It’s 75 minutes of really quite enjoyable mayhem brought off by a cast who all have track records with the likes of Second City, Sex T-Rex and the Baroness von Sketch Show. Everybody involved has great comic timing and there’s some impressively weird movement (especially from Jillian). It couldn’t be more different than Nabucco at the COC which may or may not be a good thing.

13 Plays About ADHD… All At The Same Time is presented by Circlesnake and runs until October 13th.
